This letter accompanied our 2015 calendar year giving statements.
Dear Friends at University United Methodist Church,
As we wrap up 2015 and move forward into 2016, I want to say Thank You for all of your generous giving in 2015. Your gifts have supported the church throughout the year as we act out our call to be a church where people of all cultures, all nations, and all ages can come together to love and serve God and neighbor.
Some highlights for me from the past year:
The outpouring of support to help rebuild black churches after a series of arsons left many buildings nothing more than ashes.
On a personal level, seeing the church family extend welcome our son at his baptism, and knowing how your gifts help support such sacred moments in the church community.
The Adopt-A-Block work day, when your gifts helped the church reach out to the neighborhood through Safe Homes for the Elderly and Disabled and do needed physical work to help people unable to do it themselves.
Also on a personal level, giving our daughter a chance to “read” her first scripture at the lectionary during service, and seeing how your gifts support the formation children and youth into active and knowledgeable participants in Christian life.
As we look forward to 2016, I would like to extend a special invitation to our first sermon series of 2016, “Gifted”, during which we will be discussing discovering and using our spiritual gifts to further the Kingdom of God on Earth! And, if you have missed a Sunday or two because you’ve been out of town or sick or whatever reason, did you know that we now post the sermons on our website weekly? Just go to http://www.universityumc.com and click on “Sermons”.
Enclosed you will find your year-end statement of giving for 2015. Please review, and if you notice any errors or have any questions, please contact Abbi Telander, our Communications and Office Manager at 314-863-8055 or email@example.com. If your giving is over the amount you pledged, thank you! If your 2015 giving was under what you estimated, please know that you always have the option of making it up in 2016.
Finally, I want to say that the leadership of the church maintains our open-door policy. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call, e-mail, text, or ask to meet for coffee or hot chocolate with us. And, if you’d like to get involved to help us prayerfully lead the church boldly into the coming year, please talk to Rev. Diane about your interest.
Thank you for taking your time to read this. I hope you have a wonderful 2016.
