UUMC Ministry Team Update
Your Ministry Team coordinates the ministries of the church according to the core faith practices in our mission statement and in alignment with our vision and values.
The four core faith practices are:
- Passionate Worship
- Loving Fellowship
- Purposeful Spiritual Growth
- Willing Service
The Ministry Team is made up of the leaders of our ministry teams (currently eight teams, two of which have co-leaders), the Lay Leader Ministry Team Focus (Tom Mitchell for 2015-16), and attended by church staff. Meetings are open to all. You may see Ministry Team abbreviated as “MT” on occasion.
July 9, 2015 Meeting
The Team for 2015-16 first met on July 9 to organize ourselves and think how we will work together. After a simple meal, we discussed what it means to align our efforts and activities with the Mission, Values and Vision of the congregation. This meeting was attended by many the members of the teams. Part of the meeting was spent working within teams or groups of teams.
We reviewed the church calendar and ministry activities for upcoming months, which is part of all our meetings. However, an important part of our meetings will be to strategize and think forward.
The closing highlight was the signing and dedication of the covenants made by team leaders and members, outlining their commitments to our congregation’s ministries.
August 27, 2015 Upcoming Meeting
We will met in the library on August 27, 7-8:30 p.m. Highlights of the agenda as it stands at this writing:
Calendaring forward through Epiphany, January 4, 2016. Special emphasis on potlucks.
Review the ministry side of the latest draft budget for 2015-2016.
Discussion of a first section of “Get Their Name,” a book focused on the Inviting Ministry through development of relationships.
As a group we will be working specifically on three of the emphases adopted by the Leadership Council for 2015-16:
- Develop path(s) for growing disciples
- Understand how to be multi-cultural
- Understand how to be intergenerational
On August 27, we will kick off exploration of developing path(s) for growing disciples.
We will discuss the other two emphases briefly, to be dealt with in subsequent meetings.
